On the evening of Saturday May 5th the moon will be at it’s closest point in it’s orbit around earth for the year of 2012. The moon will appear to be 14% larger than any other full moon of the year. The best way to really notice the larger size is observe it when it’s low on the horizon with an object in the foreground for reference. Since this event happens on a Saturday, It should be easier to make time to take an evening stroll or hike, find a great spot, and watch the moon rise.
